Compare Kress EyePilot Robotic Mowers: Small Lawns to Large Properties

Keeping grass maintained takes time, whether you’re looking after a suburban backyard or a larger property. Kress robotic mowers help automate regular mowing, with models designed for different lawn sizes, terrain and maintenance requirements.

The Kress range at ArbSupplies includes compact EyePilot® residential mowers and capable 4×4 models for demanding terrain. Here’s how four models compare—and what to consider when choosing one for your property.

Compare four Kress EyePilot® robotic mowers

Model Stated coverage Mowing cycle Main distinction
EyePilot® KR250A Up to 700 m² 24 hours Compact option for smaller residential lawns
EyePilot® KR261A with ZeroTrim Up to 1,000 m² 24 hours Greater residential coverage with edge cutting to reduce follow-up trimming
EyePilot® KR282A 4×4 Up to 2,000 m² 24 hours Four-wheel drive for sloping and uneven lawns
EyePilot® KR285A 4×4 Up to 5,000 m² 24 hours Four-wheel drive with greater capacity for larger properties

Coverage figures describe mowing capacity over the stated operating cycle, rather than coverage on a single battery charge. Actual coverage depends on lawn layout, terrain, grass conditions and the available mowing schedule.

What does wire-free mowing involve?

Kress RTKⁿ technology uses satellite positioning and correction data to guide the mower without a physical perimeter wire. EyePilot® models combine this with vision-based awareness to support navigation and obstacle detection.

Wire-free still requires setup: the charging station must be installed and powered, the lawn’s virtual boundaries mapped, and suitable RTK reception and connectivity checked before mowing begins. EyePilot® models support automatic, assisted or app-based mapping.

Across these four Australian EyePilot® models, Kress lists Wi-Fi and integrated 4G connectivity, with an embedded SIM and active data service included. Check connectivity at your property as part of the installation assessment.

Kress EyePilot® KR250A: For smaller residential lawns

Best suited to homeowners with lawns up to 700 m² who want to automate routine mowing.

The Kress EyePilot® KR250A RTKⁿ combines satellite guidance with vision-based navigation in a compact residential mower. Its 20 cm cutting width and self-levelling cutting disc support regular lawn maintenance, while multi-zone management helps it navigate between separate grassed areas.

With capacity of up to 700 m² over a 24-hour cycle, it’s a practical starting point for smaller properties.

Kress EyePilot® KR261A: More coverage with reduced edge trimming

Best suited to homeowners with lawns up to 1,000 m² who want automated mowing and less follow-up trimming along suitable edges.

The Kress EyePilot® KR261A RTKⁿ with ZeroTrim provides greater residential coverage than the KR250A. Its ZeroTrim cutting system helps reduce the unmown strip along compatible lawn edges, although some manual trimming may still be needed around walls, obstacles and unsuitable borders.

Vision-supported navigation, multi-zone management and app control help manage regular mowing across more complex garden layouts.

Kress EyePilot® KR282A 4×4: For sloping and uneven lawns

Best suited to properties up to 2,000 m² where slopes and uneven ground make traction a priority.

The Kress EyePilot® KR282A 4×4 RTKⁿ combines four independently controlled drive motors with an articulated body and independent axles. These features help maintain wheel contact as the terrain changes, while front-wheel steering supports smooth turns with reduced turf wear.

Kress rates the KR282A for working-area slopes up to 84% (approximately 40°), measured under laboratory conditions. Suitability depends on the surface and site conditions.

Kress also specifies up to 6 cm of vertical obstacle clearance for raised edges and transitions.

Kress EyePilot® KR285A 4×4: For larger, demanding properties

Best suited to larger properties up to 5,000 m² that need four-wheel-drive traction across sloping or uneven lawns.

The Kress EyePilot® KR285A 4×4 RTKⁿ combines the terrain-focused design of the 4×4 range with greater mowing capacity. A 24 cm cutting width, electronic cutting height adjustment and multi-zone management help tailor maintenance to larger lawn areas.

Kress rates the KR285A for working-area slopes up to 84% (approximately 40°), measured under laboratory conditions, and specifies up to 6 cm of vertical obstacle clearance. Suitability depends on the surface and site conditions.

Its main distinction is capacity: up to 5,000 m² over a 24-hour mowing cycle.
