The Petzl ZIGZAG PLUS is a mechanical Prusik designed for smooth, efficient movement when working in the canopy. It uses the familiar technique of a classic Prusik pulley system, making it intuitive for experienced arborists while delivering precise rope control and easy slack management.
Its friction chain provides controlled, fluid movement during ascents, descents and lateral positioning. A pulley mounted on sealed ball bearings helps take up slack quickly, while the release lever allows the climber to precisely control movement speed.
What sets the ZIGZAG PLUS apart is its high-efficiency lower swivel. The swivel helps keep the device correctly positioned, reduces twisting within the climbing system and supports smooth rope travel through the device.
The ZIGZAG PLUS can be used in a moving rope system or as part of a stationary rope system when paired with the compatible Petzl CHICANE auxiliary brake.

Moving Rope and Stationary Rope Compatibility
For moving rope systems, the upper attachment point can be used to connect the rope termination.
For stationary rope systems, the ZIGZAG PLUS must be combined with the compatible Petzl CHICANE auxiliary brake, which provides the additional friction required during descent. Compatible Petzl knee ascent assemblies can also be added to improve efficiency during ascent.

The lower attachment point incorporates a high-efficiency swivel that helps keep the mechanical Prusik stable and correctly aligned with the climber. This minimises unwanted twisting and promotes optimal rope travel through the device.
